West Lothian writer, Ellie Stewart, worked with patients in the dialysis unit at St. John's Hospital, Livingston over the course of eight weeks to create a series of short poems. The poems were written collaboratively through relaxed conversation, games and postcards.
Ellie also left a 'poetry box' on the ward that patients, staff and families could contribute to. The poems created were made into a collection titled
'Things
We Found'.
Care/Support Workers and volunteers and provides a range of participatory arts projects to vulnerable people from care homes, day centres, and hospital contexts. We have worked in Rehab, Geriatric, Dementia, Mother & Baby care and Mental Health wards and services both in primary and secondary care. We form partnerships to better understand where our services can support Occupational Therapists, Activity Coordinators, Art Therapists, ward based staff, and support staff wellbeing. We also have artists in public spaces within hospitals and care environments providing moments of relief, creativity, joy and mindfulness
